Robert Eugene Tuthill May 30, 1928 - Oct. 15, 2007 Robert Eugene Tuthill, husband of Molly Sturges Tuthill, of Menlo Park, CA, died at home on the morning of October 15, 2007, of complications arising from a prolonged struggle with Lewy Body disease. Bob was a native Californian, born in Long Beach, CA, on May 30, 1928. His parents were Pauline and Fred Tuthill. Bob played quarterback for the Bakersfield High School Drillers and was President of the student body in 1946. He received a degree in Economics in 1950 from Stanford University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. Bob enlisted in the Air Force Officers Candidates School, where he became a Lieutenant. Bob began his career in insurance, at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in San Francisco. After several transfers between San Francisco and Los Angeles, Bob took a job at California Casualty Management Company, where he rose to the position of Senior Vice President, and settled in Menlo Park. Bob is survived by his wife, Molly; his three children, Mark (Nickie Tuthill-Delute), Cynthia (James Orr), and Kathryn (Daryl Thome); three grandchildren, Jessica, Mark, and Nicholas; and his brother, Donald. After his retirement, Bob's great joys were traveling with his wife, and his volunteer work at Filoli as a member of the Bandana Brigade and as a nature docent. Bob will be remembered for his many strengths and kindnesses, and especially for his unending courage, grace, and sense of humor. A memorial service will be held at St. Bede's Episcopal Church in Menlo Park on Saturday, October 27th, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, P.O. I worked with Bob Tuthill at California Casualty Management Co. He was a good leader, a man of integrity and represented the company and business community with a level of professionalism that was exceptional. I consider it an honor to have been on his team.
