Jason Cabrol Obituary

Jason "Jaysin" "Spaceman" Richard Cabrol, of Wilseyville, Calaveras County, California was born on Oct. 27, 1974 in San Francisco, California to Steven "Steve" George Cabrol and Barbara Alsved Hendrickson Cabrol. Jaysin was married on the Spring Equinox, March 20, 2008, to Sara Lynn Reep, daughter of Rick and Colleen Reep, in Calaveras Big Trees State Park, California. He died on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 of a heart attack while snowboarding at Kirkwood. The family takes comfort knowing that he was enjoying one of his favorite activities at the time of his passing. Jaysin graduated from Benicia High School in 1993, where he was the supreme president of the Benicia High Backpacking Club, during which time he made many life long friends. Among other colleges, he attended motorcycle mechanic's school in Arizona, and Sierra College in Rocklin, California. Jaysin taught Principles of Fabrication in the Welding Department at Sierra College for the past 9 years. In addition to teaching, he ran his own fabrication and metal art business, Shadow Werx. Jaysin loved to snowboard, wakeboard, backpack, create amazing mechanical and artistic wonders, collect and repair old vehicles, as well as lend a helping hand at every opportunity. He loved playing with his nieces and nephews and was their favorite jungle gym. He loved teaching them about building and nature. As one friend describes him, he was the original Lego Spaceman, expert fort builder, bike ramp engineer, bass guitar designer, MacGyver fix-it genius, and most open-minded and open-hearted gentleman he'd ever known. Jaysin is survived by his wife and soul-mate, Sara Cabrol, parents Steve and Barbara Cabrol, and numerous close extended family and friends. Jaysin was preceded in death by his grandparents George Camille Cabrol (1990) and Mildred Pauline "Mibbie" "Honee" Peterson Cabrol (2010), and John Alfred Hendrickson (1995) and Blanche Annette Green Hendrickson (1959). Please join us in celebrating Jaysin's life on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the West Point Community Church, 22264 California Hwy 26, West Point, CA 95255 at 1pm. Please wear tie-dye if you have it. All neck ties will be cut from your neck. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to one of the following in Jaysin's name: Calaveras Rebuilds c/o Calaveras Recovers, West Point Community Garden, c/o Blue Mountain Coalition for Youth and Families, West Point Scholarship Fund Association.
