Highly talented and original poet; we at erbacce press published her work frequently. She had immense empathy and compassion for others as in this poem of hers which she dedicated to Frida Kahlo... (RIP sister):
Day of the Dead
Grief is a wandering uterus.
Your body-cast, synthetic exoskeleton
for a body metaphorically entombed.
Paint drips placenta-like on borrowed canvas,
Your womb conjures shadow projections
Of children, toys, bottles—
trappings of motherhood never understood.
Self-portrait aortically connected,
Heart to heart, part by part,
liver, kidney, bladder, brain,
headscarf, opal, beaded chain—
Frida, these are all of you:
The woman with the skull in her mouth,
with raven braids, a serpent crown,
who walks through walls and underground,
and on this day—above the earth—
In Death: the artist lives unbound.

It is now 2019, and the years pass quickly, but we will never forget what a wonderful friend Ariel was to my daughter, Rebecca. They were camp friends, a camp friend who was more like a sister. Ariel even came, by herself and not knowing anyone, to Rebecca's Sweet 16 birthday party in New York City. That meant so much to us. Ariel will be in our hearts forever.

To the family of Ariel: She was my counselor and friend every week for the last 8 months. She was like an angel of light and one of the most compassionate and sweet girl. I believe she is in heaven now with our Lord and is continuing her good works there! She will be sorely missed. I was very blessed to have met her and be encouraged by her. My sympathies to her siblings and her wonderful family. Dana

I was deeply saddened to hear of this loss. I have so many fond memories of theater classes and plays with Ariel at Highland Park High School. Ariel was a kind and talented person with a good heart and I am glad to have known her. My deepest sympathies to the family in this difficult time. Know that Ariel brought a lot of joy during her time at HPHS. A wonderful spirit that will not soon be forgotten.

Dear Joel and Family,
I don't know if you remember me., We went to the Anshe Emt Day School together. I read of your terrible loss and just wanted you to know that I remember you and I send you my deepest condolences. To lose a child is the worst thing that can happen. May her memory be for a blessing.
