Malcolm “Mel” Maurice Vega, age 56 years, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Collierville, TN. Loving father of Benjamin “Ben”, Jacob “Jake”, and Zackary “Zack” Vega. Son of the late Manuel M. Vega, Jr. and Hilda Sanchez Vega. Brother of Manuel “Manny” M. Vega, III (Janie), Michael M. Vega (Diana), Matthew M. Vega, and the late Mark M. Vega. Survived by the mother of his children, Sharon Anne Linnick Vega, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mel earned his Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in New Orleans and served as an IT Manager for FedEx, Inc. in Memphis, TN. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed many trips along with friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
