Devin Arlo Seaverson, 19, of Fuquay-Varina, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 after living an eventful, but short life where his good heart touched many others, probably more than we know. He will live on within us and we will always cherish his vibrant and loving personality.
Devin was born June 10, 1997 to Jason and Lori Seaverson. The oldest of 3 children, he was always a unique individual. As a small child he loved to engage others in conversation, insisting to show them some exciting thing he had discovered. He never stopped showing us and everyone he knew something amazing or cool. Whether an item, idea, or some form of entertainment.
He loved to care for others and make them smile.
Cars were his obsession. He identified makes before he could even read. He eventually could tell you any make, model or year, back to the 1950's just by looking at one. His mind was amazing. His passions were strong.
Devin tried new things and found new paths. Math was child's play and he dabbled in art. At Harnett Central Middle School, he fell in love with singing. Moving into Harnett Central High, he discovered Physics and Theatre with excitement, while still participating in Vocal Ensemble. What a combination! He spent many summers at UNC Chapel Hill High School Music Camp where he thrived. Devin finally chose to attend Guilford College where he double majored in Physics and Theatre Studies.
Devin is survived by his loving parents, Jason and Lori; his brothers Derek (16) and Dustin, (8) and the love of his life, Coty Crews. His dear friends are more than we can count.
His cat, Hazel, will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Apex Funeral Home with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Devin's name may be made to either the Guilford College Revelers Club who support encouraging youth theatre opportunities, or to the Trevor Project which provides a suicide hotline for LGBT and questioning youth.

There are not adequate words. Brian sends his thoughts, and his love. Running around the neighborhood with Devin as a child is one of his favorite memories. He wishes he could hug you all and tell you how much he loves you. Please know we are thinking of you

Lori and the boys were visiting at my home in Vermont a few years ago. Devin was listening to music in his mom's car. Devin shut the door with her keys inside. Lori called a lock smith to unlock it for them. There was a fee. Then either the same day or the next day, Devin did it again. I think Devin decided he better not do it a third time. Devin was a joy to be around, when I could be. I still have a drawing of a car he drew for me when he was little. I loved him with all of my heart and will miss his humor and love of live. Love, Gramma Jo

Devin Arlo Seaverson. A talented, kind hearted, and amazing person. But most of all he was always a wonderful friend. Thank you so much for giving me memories that I will hold on to for the rest of my life. To his parents and family. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Devin was one of the best people I ever could have had the pleasure of knowing, and I definitely know where he got it from.

When I heard about this tragedy I was shocked. You were an extremely talented young man with a brite future. When I met you for the first time I knew you would be great. Although you left us all too soon no one will forget your caring soul and your bright smile. I had the privilege to coach you for a short period of time in Bowling and volunteer with you in HAWC. My thoughts are with your wonderful family.

My junior year of high school I made one of the bestfriends that I've ever been blessed to have. I met a freshman in chorus who changed my life. He had the greatest personality and could make the worst day a million times better. We created an amazing bond in chorus and we're always having a great time together. That year, because of him and all of his encouragement, I finally took the biggest step a choral member could take: I audition for Vocal Ensemble. We auditioned on the same day. We rehearsed together in the practice room before our auditions and gave each other the biggest hugs. We texted each other the whole summer to see if the other had heard from Mrs. McClain yet. Finally the day came when we both found out that we made it in Vocal and we discovered that we both had known the entire summer but couldn't tell until everyone knew. My senior year would not have been the same without my bestfriend being by my side every day in Vocal. On our Vocal trip to NYC, we were bus buddies for a while and had a blast together. At our Vocal banquet he surprised me with a beautiful blown glass treble clef necklace as my graduation/birthday present. I was scared that after I graduated we would drift apart.. but we still remained close. My freshman year of college I still kept in contact with my favorite person. Vocal alumni got to come and sing the National Anthem at the homecoming game that year and I surprised my bestfriend that night by showing up to sing with him! We stood side by side, just like old times. I was blessed to be able to see him continue to perform with Vocal and to watch him branch out into theater. Watching him perform in Harvey will always be one of my favorite memories. I was so proud of him! I still have the business card. We did end up drifting apart but he always had a special place in my heart and he always will. I will cherish our memories and photos forever.
Fly high and gracefully my darling. I love you, don't you ever forget that!

Jason, Lori, Derek and Dustin so very sorry for your loss. Our hearts are saddened by your loss. Our neighbors and friends for so many years. The first family we met in BW. The boys have always been special to us. Watching them grow and always remembering them coming over just to say Hi. Devin when younger always would stop us while out in yard either to help us or talk about cars to Kirk. Jason and Lori would understand about the boys coming over to help us because they would have to come get them from our yard to help them. I got to see Devin a few days before Christmas at HT ( his work). He was so funny came running up and gave me a big hug. And jokingly said he had an inside track to his boss(I'm the Mom). Looking back that gives me comfort seeing him one last time. Thank You Seaverson Family for sharing your Devin with us.

Jason and Lori,
So sorry for your loss, our hearts were broken when we heard the news about Devin. We remember the day he was born and the joy and happiness he brought into your family and into our office. Jason, even though you were our employee, you and Lori seemed like family to us. We remember when Lori would bring Devin into the office and he would crawl up and down the hall. As he got older, he would be so excited to take my office stand of stamps and a piece of paper and would completely fill the sheet with markings from my stamps. He was always smiling and very inquisitive about everything. I still have those stamps in my office and at times look at them and think about Devin. We are keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers.

In June, 2012, Devin rode with me in Rosie, my 1930 Willys Overland Whippet, from Vermont to Duluth, MN about 1200 miles and 5 days in my 82 year old car. He was a wonderful navigator and copilot for the trip. He loved Rosie, washed and polished her before we started, and polished the aluminum hubcaps and bumper ends at every stop. He tolerated and picked on me and Don, his two old fogie fellow travelers and quickly endeared himself to the entire gathering of our car club meet in Duluth. I will remember and love him always as my dear nephew and fellow traveler.

Devin was like our own. He will be missed. He always brought laughter and joy when he was around. Best thing to enter my son's life. I can still hear his laughter and quirky remarks. Fly high my friend. One day we will meet again.

I was privileged to see Devin on stage at Guilford College in 'Woyzeck.' He played the officer who charmed and seduced Marie, Woyzeck's wife. Watching this production was a strange but enjoyable experience, and Devin was good in it. I'm glad I was able to see him perform.
Condolences and much love to his family and friends.

The last memory I have is of Trivia night with Devin. He sat next to me and I whispered the answers to him when no one was looking. We conspired to win the game single-handedly! He was so sweet because he kept picking my phone up for me everytime it fell on the floor. He also drove me home that night! I will remember these good times we had! You will be missed and my heart pours out for your family.

Lori & family, my words simply can't convey the depths of my condolences on the loss of your beloved Devin. My heavy heart aches for all of you and my tears flow for all of you. I had the great fortune and privilege of meeting Devin after the high school play a year ago, and during and after the Tiger Rescue event this past Summer. What a wonderful human being, what a great soul, and what incredible intellect and maturity Devin demonstrates. Devin holds great love for his family, love that most certainly shone through in his manner, speech, and actions. Devin gives of himself through genuine kindness and good deeds. Devin, a life well lived. Please accept my condolences.

Devin was one of my first friends at Harnett Central High School. I have so many memories with him that I will cherish forever. I only met Devin once. My memory of him is at the Carolina Tiger Rescue in Pittsboro, with group of mostly women, Devin enjoyed being with us. He spent much of the time teasing and laughing with his Mother. The mutual affection and love for each other touched me at the time and especially now. What a blessing to have such a close relationship with your son. It sounds like he touched the lives of the many people around him. My sincerest condolences Lori and family. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

I have known Devin since he was in elementary school, and he was always friendly, kind, and respectful. The last time I saw him was on a day when he was at work. What was most impressive was that while he was working hard (the store was very busy), he was also able to carry on a conversation with me and, of course, joke around with me a little. I clearly remember leaving the store that day and thinking about his maturity and work ethic. That doesn't happen without great parents and wonderful brothers. My thoughts and prayers are with Devin's family.

Devin has been a wonderful friend to me and I am so grateful to have him in my life. He is so brave, and patient, talented, intelligent as always wearing a smile. We have spent a lot of time together in the Physics department as well as outside of class. He loved his family and friends tremendously, especially Coty. Devin- I hope you are resting peacefully and smiling down at us from above. You are so loved, and so missed by all of us. I am so grateful to have had you shine in on my life. I love you to the ends of the earth, and beyond, and you will always be in my thoughts and prayers.
